Curbside Recycling Program

Sorting Guidelines

  1. Paper products — Place in the same recycle bins or paper bags               click on images to view larger version

 

Newspapers and inserts

 

 

Magazines and catalogs

 

Mail, office and school papers (no need to remove tape, staples or envelope windows)

Shredded paper in a closed paper bag

Paper bags

Beer and pop cartons

Cereal boxes, cracker boxes, pasta boxes, cake mix boxes, etc. (remove the plastic liners and flatten). Shoe boxes, gift boxes & electronics boxes

Corrugated cardboard (please flatten, if oversize place next to bins or bags)

 

Boxes from toothpaste, medications and other toiletries

Phone books

File folders and notebooks (no need to remove the metal spiral)

 

Don't include these items:

  • Boxes from refrigerated or frozen foods
  • Pizza boxes, egg cartons or boxes soiled with food
  • Paper towels, napkins, cups and plates
  • Gift wrap and tissue paper

Metal food cans (rinsed, no need to remove labels)

Aluminum cans and foil

Glass bottles and jars: brown, green and clear (throw away lids and caps, rinse)

Plastic bottles with a neck, including: soda bottles, milk and water jugs, and laundry products containers (throw away caps, lids, pumps, metal and plastic rings, rinse and flatten)

 

 Milk cartons, juice boxes and cartons for soup and broth

Don't include these items:

  • Plastic bags of any kind, plastic wrap (Take these to a grocery store)
  • Aerosol cans, paint cans
  • Motor oil or gasoline containers
  • Window panes, mirrors, light bulbs
  • Pottery, ceramics, dishes, drinking glasses
  • Disposable razors, needles
  • Medicine containers
  • Take out food containers
  • Plastic tubs (such as yogurt or margarine)
  • Foam cups, packaging or trays
  • Plastic cutlery

   3. Textiles - Place in plastic bag next to recycling and clearly label as recyclables

  • Linens – towels, sheets, blankets, curtains and tablecloths

  • Clothes – belts, boots, coats, gloves, hats, pants, shirts, and shoes

Textiles must be reusable, dry, clean and free of mold, mildew and excessive stains.  No rags.
